The 'Society of Football Intermediaries and Agents' (SOFIA) is a representative and independent body serving those authorised to operate in the field of professional football representation under the FIFA guidelines entitled 'Regulations on Working with Intermediaries' that came into force in April 2015.

Established in 2017, after a year’s planning by a working group of agents, intermediaries, lawyers and football participants, SOFIA was created with the purpose of promoting professionalism, best practice, and high ethical standards in this field, as well as providing a representative, genuinely independent voice for its members and protecting the best interests of the football intermediary industry, as well as the game as a whole.

A non-mandatory and non-regulatory body, SOFIA cooperates with other football stakeholders (such as national associations, leagues, clubs, players, coaches, managers, and unions) with the aim of encouraging best practice and professional standards in the industry from its members.

While based in the United Kingdom, membership of SOFIA is not limited solely to professional agents and intermediaries registered and operating in the UK. Indeed, SOFIA welcomes membership applications from intermediaries and agents licensed, registered and regulated by national football associations outside of the UK.

“SOFIA is a representative and independent body serving authorised football agents and intermediaries; and serving to promote professionalism, best practice and high ethical standards in the field of professional football representation.”
